Description:
palmFTP server is a somewhat RFC-compatible FTP server for Palm OS that implements the standard RETR, STOR, STOU, PASV, PORT, USER, PASS, LIST, REST,HELP, SYST, QUIT, CWD, PWD, MKD, CDUP, RMD, DELE commands, and also the non-standard SIZE command.
It does not implement, however, ACCT, STRU, and any TYPE other than I or A (which are required by the RFC but not really used very often).
It will allow you to access all of your mounted VFS cards and your RAM & ROM databases, and also upload files to cards and PRC/PDB files to RAM. Think of it as "Wireless Drive Mode" app.
It has been developed using Handheld Basic ++ & a bunch of native APIs.
I've succesfully tested it on a real T|X device with a bluetooth connection (and also with a WiFi connection) and SmartFTP, Firefox, MSIE, and WinExplorer FTP clients.
It boots on a m130, but didn't test it as I don't have avalaible network connection. Seems to work on simulator, though.
Note:
This is mostly an experiment. It is a foreground app!, it is not a background application.
There's no security at all, and it's surely full of bugs. So test it if you want to. I find it very useful when I forget the USB cable at home and I want to transfer some files through a wifi link to my card.
There is a "Read Only" switch in the Preferences Dialog for simple security.
Be sure to tell me any bugs you found! Also tell me if it works :)

Very nice software, I have had it installed for a while, but was just playing with it again. Any chance of updates? It would be nice if one didn't have to hit start after every connection issued a QUIT

Very good tool to upload multiple files to MMC card. But have problem when creating new directory in MMC card, for example /MyCard/Program/Crimson

Great tool for treo 650.

This is very cool. It successfully FTPs files over the Sprint network on my Treo 650. The program should print the IP address it is using when it starts up. It should also have a mode to connect on startup. It does hang up sometimes, not handling errors from the incoming client very well (prints them over and over and takes a long time to clear). If the source code is available I will look at the code - neat application.

Wow! I've been doing searches for 'palm ftp server' for months. Now this turns up! Fantastic. Exactly what I need to keep my changing list of media files up-to-date on my trusty Clie UX50 1Gig stick. Also a great backup tool (I use linux). Reserving the 5th star for when it can handle multiple files and empty directories ;-) Keep up the good work

I was able to get the adhoc connection to work and the IE/WinExplorer. Also I found a problem with my SD card, were it had lost it's name, so that's why I couldn't access the card. It still seems like it isn't real stable yet, but definatly a nice to be able to wirelessly.

I'm very impressed! Keep up the good work. I'm glad you put the version number as 0.1 which hopefully means you will continue to develop it. I had to turn off passive FTP to get it to work properly for both command line and IE (internet options-advanced tab) but once I did, it worked perfectly. It takes a while to get a directory listing for ROM and RAM, but there are a ton of files in there, so it's understandable.

Excellent idea, but I was only able to connect using SmartFTP. I wasn unable to use MSIE, Firefox or WinExplorer. When I connected with SmartFTP, I couldn't seem my SD card. The IP Spoofing didn't work, and I could only connect via the assigned ip by my wireless router. I was also unable to connect when using a ADHOC wireless connect. I could connect with command line ftp, but without support for DIR I couldn't see any files on the server. I'm looking forward to an update, as I can see this being a usefull tool.

Im impressed! This works realy good on my TX. Some issues that I have found are:
- Cannot reconnect after disconnect. Need to close and reopen program.
- Cannot transfer many files at once.
- Connection a bit slow when transfering large files...
Still. It works fine for sending single small files!
