Description:
Play Sudoku on the go.

Features:

  • Random and manual game setup. Have Sudoku generate a random game for you, or enter games from newspapers and books, then play them later.
  • Supports the 5-way rocker for selecting and editing cells.
  • Supports direct keyboard editing of cells, designed for Treo computers.
  • Immediately indicates illegal plays (may be turned off).
  • Check function to indicate mistakes (compares your game against the solution).
  • Logical solver with log to show you how games can be logically solved.
  • Supports pencilling - tap in possible digits then later "set" your decision.
  • Can automatically erase illegal pencilmarks.
  • Pencilmarks can be selectively shown/hidden - great for figuring out complex patterns (such as Colouring), or simply seeing that single digit.
  • Undetermined cells can be coloured, for manual use of the Colouring strategy.
  • Save the state of a game so you can later back-up. Great for diabolical puzzles when there isn't always a logical play.
  • Hint mechanism - have the game indicate a position that can be logically worked out. It can fill it in for you too (that's cheating!).
  • Game timer shows how long you've been staring at your Palm's screen.
  • Games can be beamed to other Palm computers.
  • Games can be copied/pasted to/from the clipboard (eg to/from Memos).
  • While the game is active, the auto-off timeout is lengthened to allow for more thinking time.
Update Description:
v1.30:
  • Fixed a crash saving games (one part of the saving was locking the record for writing, another part was subsequently trying to resize the record, which doesn't work when it's locked!).
  • Fixed problem entering digits when setting up games with the "auto set digit" preference turned off.
  • Added checks before the Solve and Hint functions to check the game for mistakes, otherwise the solver algorithms will only provide more wrong answers!

Love this program. If the author is looking for ways to improve it, it would be nice to tap on an original digit (not one entering while solving) and have all those digits highlighted. That is, I would tap on a 4 and all the 4's would be highlighted. Also, a bit of documentation would be nice. But overall, this is a great program.

This is the best freeware sudoku game I've found so far. I especially love the different colors for each number. Two things I would like to see in the next version: being able to choose the degree of difficulty in generated puzzles; and being able to change the background colors in the number squares - or at least modify them; some colors are too similar on my Zire 31.

Totally seems to crash/hang on my m515. Had to do a hard reset to recover.

Love this game on my Tungsten E2! And for an explanation of stuff, go here: http://www.scss.com.au/family/andrew/pdas/palm/myprogs/sudoku/

Best free Sudoku game for Palm I've seen. Works great on Zire 71.

Looks great, but caused the backlight on my tungsten E to go away. Had to do a hard reset to bring it back...thinking it might be coincidence, I installed again to the same effect. So something in this little beauty can turn off the backlight.....anyway I am Tungsten E on 4.5.1

Pretty much what everyone said: * Works well on the Treo 700p * Takes awhile for a random game to load. * I wish there were difficulty levels. * Takes awhile of fiddling -- docs would be nice. Very nice. It would be cool to throw this app onto, say, sourceforge.net and let other developers work on improvements.

Works great on treo 700p. Best sudoku app I have used. I only wish it had different levels of difficulty.

Works great on my T3. Amazing amount of flexibility especially for a freeware program. If the correct features are turned on it makes solving sudoku puzzles truly trivial. Actually, can make solving the puzzles so easy that solving the puzzles is no more fun. Thanks for a great game!

Consider this as the best freeware sudoku. Enjoy.

Best Sudoku game ever for a handheld, until they add those zeros to the game! I never knew until I downloaded it on January 23rd that your Sudoku game has a scoreboard for the pencil marks, with lots of zeros to begin it, and end it. (That alone can actually help me solve more of those puzzles!) And speaking of it, why not make the same version later, with new options that include expanding the board to 12 x 12, which would include zeros, plus signs, and minus signs. Maybe Sudoku is finally better than its most famous "cousin," Bingo!

This is a good program and works just fine on my Palm VIIx. Since my PDA doesn't have color, I have a little difficulty distinguishing that feature. Some instructions would be helpful.

**** [Jan 13, 2006] by denverite
I like it. It takes some playing around to figure out the features (no instructions . . . that I could find) but once you do, it works pretty well. The reason I did not give it five stars is because it takes AWHILE for the game to load a random game rather than one you put in from the paper or a book.

On my iQue3600 when I tray to play, the PDA crash, I'll must wait for a new release? or something wrong on my PDA?
