Description:
Tired of difficult-to-use, bulky, and slow image viewers? Do yown a handheld and a digital camera that uses the same medibut always wished to be able to view the images quickly and easily? Here’s your answer.

JPEGView attempts to be the fastest, smallest, and easiest to use JPEG image viewer available for PalmOS – without breaking tstandard PalmOS User Interface Guidelines.

Though not as feature-packed as other applications of similar style, this application does exactly what it was designed to do – and that is… view JPEG images!

Future versions may include more features, however. Some of the planned features include:

  • Image scaling, other than ‘always fit’. Currently, JPEGView attempts to fit every image within the view area, stretching or shrinking the image. Future options would include specific zoom sizes (¼, ½, 1x, 2x, 4x, etc.), and horizontal/vertical fit.
  • Slideshow mode. Sometime we’ll get around to adding this, but it would require a fair amount of effort (as the program wasn’t designed to know about multiple files)
  • Clock/calendar mode. Have a beautiful background image you want to use while your handheld is in its cradle, doing nothing else but charging? We’ve taken a page from Sony on this one, and are in the process of adding it as this letter is being typed. Three clock styles, complete position customization, two calendar modes, and more. Combined with Slideshow mode, and cradle detection may make this feature an instant hit.
  • Other image formats… but that’s a whole other program. (Check out our website for VFS QuickView and QuickAlbum…)
Update Description:
  • Fixed: JPEGView now changes to the maximum available resolution and no longer attempts to force 16-bit color on devices which just don't support it.
  • Fixed: No longer placed in the "Common/UI" category by default. Oops! (It's now put in Unfiled, like any good application should be.)
  • Added: Now actually checks the current OS version and processor.
  • Changed: Minor phrasing changes in the resources (i.e. "About JPEGView..." vs. "About JPEG Viewer...").

Worked fine (but slow) on my TX, but crashed my Treo 680, & Tungsten E. Interestingly, it worked best on my Zodiac Tapwave (prob due to the ATI graphic accl)

I gave it a fair because although it's good in that it works. It's poor in that it will crash. So good and poor is fair. I must say in its defense that if you don't push the wrong button you can get through it without crashing. Heck some games you lose so why should a program be any different? :) Anyway it will display ok most everything I put to it. There was 1 photo it did not display however it was a 'different' photo in that I think it had been edited and poorly so. I have a Zire 31.

I have a treo 650. This app causes a soft reset every time I try to launch it. BAD BAD APP!! VSFi and Grfxviewlite work though.

It works fine on the Garmin iQue 3600. It's a simple photo viewer and can view photos off the internal memory or SD card.

Do not use this app!!! It completely crashed my Tungsten. I needed a hardware reset and complete data restoration after using this app. It was unable to display even the smallest images.
