The version I have is 1.01, not 1.0. It's been working well on my Zire 72 for the last 2-1/2 years, and has been working absolutely great on my Zodiac for the last year. The Zire could only get somewhat dimmer, but the Zodiac can get almost black if set that way. A quick tap of the screen brings it back to its original setting. Thanks Tatsuo!

Correction to my previous comment on this product: it did not permanently ruin my Palm. I was able to use my Tungsten E's original built-in options to bring the backlight back to normal. Nevertheless, AutoDimmer didn't do what it was supposed to do, either: it didn't automatically dim the backlight after five minutes of inactivity, it just shut off the backlight right then and left it off, even if I fiddled with AutoDimmer's settings. Although it doesn't cause permanent harm, it's still a non-functional program. It was non-functional on my Palm, at least.

DON'T DOWNLOAD THIS! It has permanently ruined my Tungsten E! Autodimmer turned off the backlight, and then no matter what I did (change settings, disable, uninstall, reinstall, soft reset) the backlight is STILL off and will not turn back on! I have e-mailed the author. I hope there is some way to fix this. I can't read anything on my Palm with its backlight turned all the way off, like this. Who cares about conserving battery life, running low on batteries is better than ruining your Palm forever! DON'T DO IT!

I've been using for a couple of days and looks like it can save some battery, but it is not compatible with the PalmOne wireless keyboard, just as with the PPK it makes the typing *very* slow

GREAT PROGRAM! I have a T|E, and before I downloded this program, I could not get my backlight to go fully off, but with AutoDimmer, I can!

Quite good but there is a bug - not compatible with the T3 and PPK connected. It slows down the keyboard typing considerably.

I have a Tungsten E. It would be nice if setting the brightness using the * on the graffiti area adjusted the maximum brightness in the autodimmer. Also, I'm not sure how it detects idle, but I've got a number of applications that never go dim. But I love what it does for battery life.

Great app. Would like two more settings. One for preset levels and one for always on.
