Description:
DES Journal is a small PalmOS application that is designed to aid in keeping a journal.

It works with the built-in Datebook application and is as small and focused as possible.

It does one thing and is designed to do that one thing well.

Features:

  • Integrated with the built-in datebook application. All your journal records appear in the datebook as well.
  • Quick journal record and entry creation. When the user taps on New, the program will either create a new record for today if it doesn't exist or create a new entry for today, add the entry prefix text and place the cursor such that the program is ready for the new entry.
  • Customizable record names. You don't have to name your journal records "Daily Journal" if you don't want to.
  • Customizable entry prefix with optional time or date stamp. Each journal entry is prefixed with the text you choose and an optional macro.
  • Integrated shortcut support, allowing the setup and use of up to five shortcuts that may be inserted into a journal entry at any time.
  • Macro support. The current time and date may be added to any shortcut as well as the entry prefix. Other macros will be added in the future.
  • The number of journal records is limited only by available memory.
  • Privacy support & quick privacy toggle.
  • Customizable main form. The user can show/hide buttons that allow quick shortcut entry or record deletion.
  • Basic Palm font support.
  • Basic Palm find support.
  • Clie jogdial support.
  • The ability to hide/show the main record list. This allows for more space when editing the current day.
  • Date browser control for ease in moving to the next/previous day.
Update Description:
DES Journal v1.03 Beta 3 (12/19/2002):
- Fixed a crash problem when deleting a record.
- Fixed an icon selection problem when the user would select an invalid icon.

DES Journal v1.03 Beta 2 (12/16/2002) - Fixed two security problems:
- When records were masked or hidden, the security setting for a record could be changed without requiring a password. This has been fixed.
- When records were masked or hidden, a record could be deleted without requiring a password. This has also been fixed.

DES Journal v1.03 Beta 1 (12/06/2002):
- Added icon support for the shortcut buttons.
- Added support for PalmOS 3.1 and above devices.

Good interface, but crashes the Finder on my T|T3.

This program is incredibly useful to me and I use it everyday.
However, I have run across 2 problems:
1. If I try to edit an entry in DES journal, it pastes the edited entry into the next day's entry. I solve that by editing the entry inside the Datebook+.
2. My Visor crashes when I try to run Find - it finds the datebook entries, but crashes as it is finds the DES Journal entries. Useful, but with serious constraints.

Pretty neat. It'd be nice if you could export all journal entries to a text file...

Very useful little app, I can now make best use of the built-in Journal in date book !! I had a problem with macro's but the author found the problem and solved it straight away, what service :-)

This is the author writing. If you have any problems please contact me through support@dragonseye.com. The program actually does support viewing "old" entries but there is apparently a conflict on your system. Please contact me so I can try to resolve the problem.

BRILLIANT, simple, useful, and IT WORKS. I use in in place of "Daynotz. Daily journal easily accessable right from my datebook.

A good concept that's been shoddily implemented. It does not show old entries (so what's the point of the little display box?). Once done, journal entries cannot be edited unless you go to the built-in datebook. Worse of all, DES Journal causes a fatal error (Error Querying record) on my Prism whenever I delete an entry rom within program.
