I have only tested it on the Palm Tungsten E and Tungsten T3, but it should work on other OS5+ PDA's.

Thanks to all for the marvelous feedback; for those asking that OffStroke do more, my simplest reply is that it could do more, but then it'd be another (bigger) program altogether.

Another day, another project, perhaps -- but don't forget, it's open source, so you can always do it yourself if you're adventurous!

Works great on my Zire 72 and Tungsten E, but could not seem to configure a left hand thumb stroke to turn off my Zodiac. So for that I use the shareware app Sleep OS5, which can use a thumb/pen stroke from the middle of the radial launcher wheel to the bottom of the screen.

OffStroke is the best program for a problem Palm should have addressed long ago. I opened my case and found the switch came loose from its soldered joints on the circuit board. It looked impossible to repair because of the flimsy connections. Thanks to Eric Ding, I'm now able to shut off my PDA whenever I want to. Also in order to turn it on, I use the center button that brings up the clock, then immediately click ok, which returns me to the screen I left at shut off. Thanks again Eric.

Correction to previous Zire User post. I was looking at another power off program which did explain that it installed to the Prefs screen. So I reinstalled OffStroke on my Zire 72 and found it there; whereas previously I looked for it on the "Home" screen and could not find the icon! This needs to be mentioned in the program description. You will find OffStroke installed to the Prefs screen, not the "Home" (programs) screen.

I have read this app doesn't work on the Clie doing a stroke. It works fine on my Clie TJ37. I still use version 0.4. I never use the off switch.

Excellent innovative program. Works as described. Would it be possible in addition, to have separate strokes assignable for the functions "page up", "page down" at the very least ? This page up/down function is really important when reading a document in full screen mode (with Palm/Clies without a fixed screen graffiti area). Page up/down would be my major addition. However, while you are at it, Easy Launch was a great hack (hacks no longer supported with OS5-6) which, with a specified stroke, could give you the options for: turn off palm, page up, page down, copy, cut, paste, show/hide hidden memos, go to previous application, and many others. Even the ability to use a stroke to access just a few of these valuable functions would be marvellous (priceless actually) for all OS 5-6 Palm/Clie users.

No complaints here! My Sony Clie won't allow for the "screen stroke," BUT it works on any corner "tap" that I place it in. Very nice! Easy, fast and simple shutdown of my handheld. Thank You for creating this feature and making it available for free. Great useful addition ... Much Appreciated!

Nifty little utility! Works great on my Palm Tungsten E. Just set up for a Tap in the Right Upper Corner, lean the stylus against the corner and tap to shut the handheld off. Thanks for including the headers and C code.
