This file contains a set of improvements for the SDIO driver on the Tungsten E handheld.
This update includes the following enhancements:
Support for current and future SDIO products
Support for MMC Memory Cards greater than 64 Megabytes
The Palm Tungsten E SDIO Update requires the following minimum system requirements:
Palm Tungsten E handheld
PC running Windows 98/NT 4.0/2000/Me/XP
Or
Mac OS X (version 10.1.2 or higher
Or
Mac OS 9 (version 9.1 and higher)
Important: This update is ONLY for Tungsten E handhelds and should not be installed on a non-Tungsten E handheld. If installed on a non-Tungsten E handheld, the device will fail to respond to expansion cards.
Installation Instructions for Windows Users
Extract the file using a standard unzip utility. Note the location of the directory/folder the file is extracted to.
Launch Palm Desktop. Select the Install Tool/Quick Install icon.
Select the correct user name from the User list.
Select the Add button.
Locate the .prc file in the directory/folder noted in Step 1 above and double-click on it.
Select Done.
Select OK.
During the next HotSync synchronization, the Palm Tungsten E handheld SDIO Update will be installed and activated.
Installation Instructions for Mac Users
Your web browser should decode the file and you will see the appropriate .sit file appear on the desktop (or in your default download folder). If your web browser does not decode the file automatically, you will need to use a decoding utility (such as Aladdin Stuffit Expander) in order to decode the .sit file.
Find the Instant Palm Desktop icon in the top right corner of your screen. From the Instant Palm Desktop menu, launch the HotSync Manager.
From the HotSync menu of the Instant Palm Desktop, select "Install" and pick the correct user name from the User list.
Select Add to List. Locate the .prc file and double-click on it.
Quit HotSync Manager. The file will be installed during your next HotSync operation.
Removing this application
Since this update replaces a system file, it cannot be removed using the "App/Delete" menu on the handheld. If you need to remove this file in the future, you will need to:
Save your current data by performing a HotSync operation.
Perform a hard reset.
Remove mmc.prc from the backup folder (ex. In Windows - C:\palm\username\backup or C:\Programs File\palm\username\backup)
Perform another HotSync operation.
Locating the backup folder in the Mac (OS 9 and X):
Close the Palm Desktop software.
Locate your Palm User folder in the following location:
OS 9 (Palm Desktop 4.0):
Hard Drive > Documents > Palm > Users OS X:
Hard Drive > Users > Your Mac OS Login Name > Documents > Palm > Users
In the Palm Users folder, locate your user name folder, It should appear just as it does within the Palm Desktop software
Locate the Backup folder.
