Description:
PRCPack allows owners of Palm Powered™ handhelds with limited storage capacity to reduce the size of the applications installed on their handhelds.
PRCPack operates by the following methods:
- Most PalmOS® applications contain several versions of each bitmap resource ( icon, picture, user interface graphic) stored in the application file, each version is targeted for a specific type of handheld screens (monochrome, grayscale, color).
- When you run that application, PalmOS® chooses for each bitmap the version that matches your type of screen and displays it, and the other versions are never used.
- PRCPack detects the type of your screen and removes the unused versions of each bitmap it finds in the application you select.
- The Palm® operating system natively understands several compression methods used to compress bitmaps, PRCPack looks for uncompressed bitmaps stored in your applications and the compresses each bitmap using the best compression method available.
- After all these operation you application size becomes smaller while staying fully functional.

This app is very good, but some just don't work well with compression.(If you compress an app, don't HotSync until you test the app, if it doesn't work, delete the problem app, and reinstall it.)

Quite good! I reccomend this for anyone who has kinoma player, but cannot fit the movies on due to space! simply shink all you programs, and as I am trying now, to compress the movies.

Amazing application for the memory starved. Worked perfectly on my Zire 21. I highly recommend this little utility.

Works well and saves space, but causes some bugs with graphics apps. Could use user selectable compression (remove irrelevant bitmaps but do not compress, etc.) to fix this.

This program did as promised. However, I did get two fatal errors and had to reset my PDA. The program also reported errors on a few applications, but in the end everything appears to be working just fine and I have indeed saved space. I would recommend it.

On my Tungsten T, the program works on some programs, whereas on others it throws the wrong bitmaps away (e.g. on RealOne Player and VersaMail it throws the hi-res bitmaps away and keeps lower-res versions). WordToGo didn't work at all after being processed by PRCPack. If these, I presume, initial problems are solved, the program can proove to be very useful.

I fully recomend this program. I was hovering around 3.5 megs of memory free after compressing my applications i had 4.3 megs free. A truely great program.
